Connect Viber
Viber needs one auth token and nothing else. Agentency registers delivery, so the channel is live once the token is accepted.

What it is
Viber is the shortest connection in the whole Messaging grid. It asks for exactly one value — the Auth token of your Viber bot — and there is nothing to paste anywhere afterwards.
That is because Agentency registers the delivery address with Viber for you as part of connecting, the same way Telegram works. You paste one token, press Connect, and the channel is live. If you have already fought your way through a Meta handshake, this one will feel suspiciously easy.
When you would use it
Use this when your customers are on Viber — common across parts of Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Greece, and Southeast Asia — and you already have, or can create, a Viber bot account.
Where to find it
Open Dashboard → Chatbots → your chatbot → Integrations → Messaging and click the Viber card.
Steps
- Create a bot account in the Viber admin panel. The drawer's View official setup guide link goes to Viber's bot API documentation.
- Copy the bot's auth token from that admin panel.
- In Agentency, open Integrations → Messaging → Viber, paste the token, and press Connect.
- That is it. There is no callback URL to copy and no verification step. Agentency checks the token with Viber, registers the delivery address, and the badge turns Connected.
- Open your bot in Viber on your phone and send it a question your knowledge base can answer.
- Confirm the reply, then find the thread in Conversations.
What you will see
The connect form is three numbered steps and a single token field, with the official-guide link underneath. Viber has no extra note callout.
Once connected, the badge reads Connected and the panel shows Connected as followed by your bot's name, plus lifetime message and user counts. Unlike Slack, Discord, LINE, or SMS, there is no callback URL panel — nothing is waiting for you. Test connection and Disconnect are in the footer.
If Viber refuses the registration, connecting fails outright with an error rather than leaving you with a half-working channel. That is intentional: a channel that says Connected but can never receive anything is worse than a clear failure.
How replies behave
Agentency registers for two kinds of event: a message from a customer, and a customer starting a conversation with your bot. It also asks Viber to include the sender's name, which is how the customer's display name reaches Customers; it does not request their photo.
Viber allows long messages, so answers are usually delivered in one piece; very long answers are still split. Questions longer than about 2,000 characters are trimmed before the chatbot reads them. Stickers, images, and voice notes get a short reply saying the chatbot reads text only.
Each answer spends message credits at your chatbot's live model rate (1X = one credit; see Message credits). A paused chatbot stays silent on Viber rather than replying that it is unavailable.
Limits and plan notes
Viber needs a plan with integrations, messaging enabled for this deployment, an Active chatbot, and a free slot under the connected-app cap shown on the Connected channels card. See Messaging channels availability.
The auth token is stored encrypted and never shown again. Reconnecting replaces it without using a second slot.
Disconnecting is cleaner here than on the paste-your-own-URL platforms: Agentency asks Viber to remove the registered address as well as clearing the stored token. If the token has already been revoked on Viber's side that request cannot succeed, which is harmless — the connection is switched off here either way and stops processing immediately.
Because Viber allows one delivery address per bot, connecting here takes over from any other tool that bot was pointed at.
Common problems
Connect fails saying the token is invalid.
Copy the auth token again from the Viber admin panel. It is easy to grab a partial value, and tokens are long. Make sure you are looking at the bot account you intend to use.
Connect fails saying the webhook could not be registered.
The token was accepted but Viber would not register the delivery address. Wait a moment and try again — this is usually transient. If it keeps failing, confirm in the Viber admin panel that the bot account is fully created and enabled.
Connected, but the bot never replies.
Check that the chatbot is Active, then that it has trained knowledge — see Chatbot readiness. Viber needs no further wiring, so a silent Connected channel is nearly always a chatbot-side problem rather than a Viber one.
I only get "I can only read text" replies.
Your testers are sending stickers or images. Send a typed question.
I connected the same bot to two chatbots.
Only the most recent connection receives messages, because Viber sends to one address per bot. Use a separate Viber bot for each chatbot.
Common questions
Do I need to paste a callback URL for Viber?
No. Agentency registers the delivery address with Viber during connect, the same way Telegram works.
Connect failed saying the webhook could not be registered.
Viber accepted the token but refused the registration. Try again, and check the bot account is fully created and enabled.
Does disconnecting clean up at Viber too?
Yes, on a best-effort basis. Agentency asks Viber to remove the registered address as well as clearing the stored token.
Can two chatbots use one Viber bot?
No. Viber delivers to one address per bot, so the most recent connection wins and the earlier one goes quiet.
