Add the chat to a Webflow site
Webflow keeps site-wide scripts in Site settings, Custom code, Head code. Paste, save, publish, and the chat is on every page.

What it is
Webflow lets you add your own <script> tags to every page of a site from Site settings → Custom code. Agentency's Webflow card gives you exactly one tag to paste into the Head code field. Save, publish, and the chat bubble is live across the site.
Note that Webflow renamed Project Settings to Site settings — older tutorials you find elsewhere still use the old name for the same screen.
When you would use it
Use this for any Webflow site on a paid Site plan: a marketing site, a CMS-driven blog, or a Webflow Ecommerce store. It is the standard route, and it survives design changes because you are not editing any component.
If you are building a landing page and want the chat to open from your own button rather than a floating bubble, read Put the widget on a landing page first — that variant uses a slightly different snippet from the Web tab.
Where to find it
Open Dashboard → Chatbots → your chatbot → Integrations → Plugins → Webflow.
Before you start
- Custom code in Site settings needs an active Site plan, or a Core, Growth, Agency, or Freelancer Workspace. A free
.webflow.iostaging site cannot use it. - You need to be a Site manager or Designer on the project.
- Add your live domain — and your
.webflow.iostaging address if you test there — to the widget allowlist. See Allow the widget on your domains. - Confirm the chatbot is Active on its Playground tab.
Steps
- Open Dashboard → Chatbots → your chatbot → Integrations → Plugins and click the Webflow card.
- Click Copy embed code.
- In Webflow, open Site settings → Custom code.
- Paste the snippet into the Head code field, on its own line beneath anything already there.
- Click Save changes.
- Publish the site. This step is not optional — custom code does not reach visitors until you publish.
- Open the published site and send a test message. Check it appears under Conversations.
What the snippet looks like
This is the tag that goes into Head code. Copy your own from the Plugins drawer rather than retyping it:
<!-- Webflow: Site settings -> Custom code -> Head code -->
<script src="https://agentency.com/js/chatbot-widget.js" defer data-widget-token="wt_YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN" data-api-base-url="https://api.agentency.com" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
Webflow's Head code field holds up to 50,000 characters, so a single tag like this uses almost none of your budget. The tag is loaded with defer, which is what Webflow itself recommends for external scripts in the head — the page paints first, the chat arrives a moment later.
What you will see
In Webflow, the code sits in the Head code box and the Publish button becomes highlighted, telling you there is an unpublished change. After publishing, the bubble appears on every page of the site, including CMS collection pages and Ecommerce product pages, because head code is site-wide.
Everything about how the bubble looks — colour, corner, avatar, opening line — is controlled in Agentency, not Webflow. See Change the widget look and position.
Limits and plan notes
Embedding requires a paid Agentency plan; Free is hosted-link only. See Which plans include integrations and the pricing page.
Two Webflow rules are worth knowing. Site settings custom code supports HTML, CSS, and JavaScript only, which is all this snippet is. And if you run Webflow Ecommerce, remember that any script you add is outside Webflow's control for PCI purposes — the Agentency widget does not touch payment fields, but your own compliance review is still yours to do.
Page-level custom code exists too, under Page settings → Custom code. Use it only if you want the chat on one page; the widget cannot be scoped to a subset of pages from the Agentency side.
Common problems
I saved the code but the bubble is not on the live site.
You have not published. Saving Site settings is not publishing in Webflow — hit Publish and pick your domains.
Nothing shows in the Designer canvas.
That is normal. The Designer does not execute site-wide head code. Test on the published site.
It works on mysite.webflow.io but not on my real domain.
Publishing to the staging domain and to a custom domain are separate publish targets, and they are separate hosts in the allowlist. Publish to both and add both hosts.
Webflow shows a character-limit warning.
Something else in the field is very long. The Agentency tag is a few hundred characters; move a large third-party block into an external file if you are near 50,000.
I need it on some pages only.
Remove the site-wide tag and paste the same snippet into Page settings → Custom code → Inside head tag on just those pages.
Common questions
Do I need a paid Webflow plan?
Yes. Custom code in Site settings needs an active Site plan or a Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer Workspace.
Where exactly does the snippet go in Webflow?
Site settings → Custom code → Head code, then Save changes. Webflow renamed Project Settings to Site settings, so older tutorials use the old name.
Why is the chat missing after I saved?
Saving is not publishing in Webflow. Custom code only reaches visitors once you publish, and the Designer canvas never runs it.
Can I put it on one page instead?
Yes. Use Page settings → Custom code → Inside head tag on that page rather than the site-wide Head code field.
