Extra chatbots and extra knowledge
Add-ons raise one limit without changing plan. Two are monthly subscriptions, one is a one-time credit top-up.

What it is
Add-ons let you raise one limit without moving to a whole new plan. There are three, and they behave differently:
- Extra chatbots. A monthly add-on. Each one you buy raises your chatbot cap by one, on top of whatever your plan already allows.
- Extra knowledge. A monthly add-on sold in fixed-size packs. Each pack adds to how much knowledge you can store.
- Credit packs. A one-time purchase, not a subscription. It tops up your message credits for the current period and does not renew.
The current prices and pack sizes are on Settings → Billing next to each add-on card, and on the pricing page. Both read from the live catalogue, so they are always right — which is why they are not repeated here.
The useful thing to understand is when an add-on is the right answer. If exactly one limit is blocking you and the rest of your plan is comfortable, an add-on is normally cheaper. If two or more limits are tight — say you want more chatbots and more seats — the next tier up is usually better value, because add-ons never include seats.
When you would use it
Buy extra chatbots when your plan otherwise suits you but you need one or two more bots than it allows. Buy extra knowledge when a single chatbot's content will not fit inside its per-chatbot size limit. Buy a credit pack when you have run out of answers mid-month and do not want to change plan. See Buy more credits for that last case.
Where to find it
Open Dashboard → Settings → Billing and scroll to the add-on cards. Only the account owner sees this page.
Steps
- Open Dashboard → Settings → Billing as the account owner.
- Confirm which limit is actually blocking you by reading the meters at the top. Buying the wrong add-on is the most common mistake here — "I cannot upload this file" is the knowledge limit, not the chatbot limit.
- Choose the matching add-on card: Extra chatbots or Extra knowledge.
- Set the quantity with the stepper. The card shows what your new total will be before you commit, so check that figure rather than doing the arithmetic yourself.
- Complete checkout. Each add-on is its own monthly subscription, billed alongside your plan and prorated for the rest of the current period.
- Wait for Billing to show the new cap. It updates as soon as the payment settles, but the page you had open before checkout will still show the old number until it reloads.
- Now retry what failed — create the additional chatbot, or re-run the upload or crawl that hit the size guard.
- When you no longer need the extra room, cancel the add-on from the same page. Get back under the lower limit first — cancelling while you are over it does not delete anything, but it does block further additions until you are under.
What you will see
An add-on card per type, each with a quantity stepper, the resulting new total, and the current price. Add-ons are listed separately from your plan name, and they appear as their own lines on your invoice. If Support has granted you bonus chatbots or bonus storage, that shows on the meters too, without you having bought anything.
Limits and plan notes
Extra chatbots add only chatbots. They do not add team seats, Call actions, instructions, or message credits — those still come from your plan tier. This is the single most common surprise: buying a sixth chatbot does not let a sixth teammate manage it.
Extra knowledge behaves as a pool that sits on top of your per-chatbot allowance, so you can spend it all on one content-heavy chatbot rather than having it spread evenly.
Credit packs do not roll over. They are consumed in the current period alongside your plan's own credits.
Both monthly add-ons have a generous upper quantity limit, which exists as a safety rail against a mis-typed quantity rather than as a real ceiling you are likely to reach. If you need more than the stepper allows, you have outgrown add-ons and should look at the next plan tier.
Common problems
I bought an extra chatbot and creating one still fails.
Reload Billing and check the cap has actually risen, and that you are signed in as the owner rather than as a member. If you recently deleted a chatbot, its slot can be held for a short time while the deletion finishes processing — wait a moment and try again.
Knowledge still says I am over the limit after buying a pack.
Size is measured as the extracted content Agentency stores, not the size of the original file on your disk. A 5 MB PDF of scanned images can extract to very little text, and a small spreadsheet can extract to a lot. Check the per-dataset sizes under Knowledge, remove anything you are not using, and see Knowledge limits for how the measurement works.
I want more seats, not more chatbots.
Seats only come from your plan. There is no seat add-on — you need the next tier up. See Seats and billing for teams.
Common questions
When is an add-on better than an upgrade?
When exactly one limit is blocking you and the rest of your plan is comfortable. If two or more are tight, the next tier is usually better value — add-ons never include seats.
Does buying extra chatbots give me anything else?
No. Extra chatbots add chatbots only — not seats, Call actions, instructions, or message credits. Buying a sixth chatbot does not let a sixth teammate manage it.
How is extra knowledge shared out?
It is a pool on top of each chatbot's own allowance, and any chatbot can draw from it. You can spend the whole pool on one content-heavy chatbot.
Where do I see the current add-on prices?
On the add-on cards at Settings → Billing and on the pricing page. Both read live from the billing catalogue, so they are authoritative.
Do add-ons survive a plan change?
Yes — they are separate subscriptions. Review them after an upgrade so you are not still paying for capacity your new tier already includes.
